Anyone that would like to enjoy the Piano for the first time

First Meeting

Each student is different from the others. At first a personalized schedule will be developed giving the opportunity to improve the practice and to find the best way to express student’s potentiality in music.
Different schedules will be planned of each different student, based on age, personality, time and the individual engagement. Landing the main steps is important to improve the skills step-by-step and to get the practise constantly evolving.

Planning

The student will learn how to study by himself at home, focusing on the performances the teacher suggests. Studying alone will motivate the student to enjoy the music and to be pleased for his own improvements.
Parents’ help will be important especially for the youngest, in order to support the regularity of the practice, which is fundamental in every music education.
Planning the weekly tasks allows the student to be organized and efficient, in order to research the best and high-quality time with his music practice.

  • For adults: 1 hour lesson per week

Goals

Piano lessons are a real training for the student, improving his familiarity with the instrument and his listening skills. The practical study of the music will push the student to listen the music in a much more richer way, paying attention at the different levels and variations.Step by step the student would come up to more difficult pieces and, if he wish, discover the pleasure to play for a public in different situations, such as annual music performances or small level-exams. The main goal of the teacher and the piano lessons would be heighten in the student the desire to show his enhancements and his reached aims.

Intermediate Level
Anyone that would like to re-start with Piano practise

First meeting

First meeting will be focused on the understanding of the start level of the student, paying attention on which skills he already has and the new goals he would like to attend during the lessons. The new schedule would be based upon some kind of music the student particularly like, besides the regular practice.

Planning

In according with the student commitment and the time he would like to employ for practice, a personal-based program will be build with the teacher, with the main goal to improve practice and listening skills.

  • +1 discretionary lesson, 40 minutes long

Goals

During the entire year, the student skills will be motivated by exploring different kinds of music trough the history, with the aim to grown-up his interest and push-up his abilities. The annual music performance and the ABRSM exams would be great annual goals if he would like to attend them at the end of the lessons’ period.

Advanced Level
Anyone that would like to improve in depth his own skills

First Meeting

First meeting will be an informal examination of the skills the student already has and a focus on the new goals he would like to attend during the lessons. Identify the level of the general competences and focus on which aspects he would like to improve are the two most important things to start.

Planning

One of the most important goal for a “senior” student would be optimize his time during the home-practice, in order to improve his level constantly.
Focusing on the different kinds of music in the history, the piano lessons will relate the student with different levels of commitment, with the aim to improve his knowledge in depth, both practically and culturally.

  • +1 discretionary lesson per week, 1 hour long
    if it will be necessary

Goals

Playing for the public is the piano lessons’ most important goal. The live-performance is a strong educational moment in which both the personality and the music skills of the student are testified. Be worried about this test is natural ad comprehensible. The practice and the passion for the music, grown-up also thanks the lessons’ time, will be the most important things the student will have to face and exceed the fear successfully.
Once in front of the public, the student will discover the pleasure to be listened, improving his excitement in playing and practising. During the year the student will attend different live-music performances and the ABRSM exams, in June or November session in Milano. He would be allow to take part in some music competitions if he would like to, according with his competence’s level.

What ABRSM exams are...

Focused Piano lessons
for exams,
from 1st to 8th level.

If the student wants to enhance his skills level, some exams will be scheduled during the year, based on his competences. Lessons will be enriched with a special program focused on the exam requests. Musical scales, the sight-reading exercises and the oral tests, which are basic parts of the test’s program, will be a rich section of the homework schedule,
in order to improve the preparation constantly. Another exams’ task, for every level, is to arrange 3 different music pieces, which will becomes part of the annual piano lessons schedule.

Focused theory lessons,
from 1st to 5th level.

Anyone who play or sing must succeeded the 5th theory level to join the 6-7-8 practical levels. Students who wants to be prepared for this goal, can have a special schedule, made by practical exercises and theory lessons. Schedules will be based upon every student competences and his own musical repertoire.
It will be possible to have a gradual and complete preparation, from level 1st to 5th, or get only the 5th level preparation, for those who have the urgency to pass this task quickly.

Focused oral lessons,
from 1st to 8th level.

Piano students, singers and anyone who plays an instrument, have the chance to be prepared for oral tests through an active and exciting musical research.
Based upon the exam’s level the student has to reach, lessons will be focused on the student's knowledge and preparation, especially for those who want to be ready to reach the higher levels.
In this case a loger training would be planned in order to have the higher steps ready for the exams.

Focused sight-reading lessons.

Focused sight-reading exercises will be scheduled for pianists, though a step-by step lessons based upon the exams requests. The main goal will be stimulate the student’s creativity in reading and performing the music.

About me

Stefano Cimminiello was born in Milano in 1973, and he start to play the piano at the age of 7.

He decided to attend the Conservatorio “G. Verdi” courses in Milano because of his deep passion of music, and he took his graduation with honours under the educational-guide of the teacher C. Pastorelli. Besides piano lessons, Stefano attended successfully also musical compositions courses, and organo and clavicembalo practical lessons

During his post-graduation internship, he discovered his passion for teaching and it became part of his work as a musician. Stefano improved his teaching knowledge attending a professional biennale course at the Music Learning Theory by E.Gordon, focused on education; he improved his skills in piano-pedagogy with M. Loewe and he took a summer course focused on Kodaly methodology theory. Since 1998, besides piano-live performances and concerts, he runs his piano-lessons at the British School of Milan, where he takes care of his students constantly and with an unchanged passion.
